The game “Doorways – Old Prototype” is indeed a prototype. To be precise, it was written as a prototype of the Doorways Saga to show the game’s main features. Since this game is a demo or teaser, it is entirely free. However, even though it is just a short game (if you are skilled, you can make it in 30 minutes), it is fun to play.
About Doorways – Old Prototype
The Doorways Saga is a survival horror series with jump and run elements, which is told in several episodes and was created by the developers of “Saibot Studios.”
The first level of the prototype looks like some hell. It is called The Abyss and was created by Tobias Rusjan (programmer) and Ignacio Belej (artist) in 2011 for NGD Studios. The first quick prototype was created from scratch in 2 weeks.
What is there to do?
Using the keys W and S to go forward and backward, the Space Bar to jump, and the Mouse for the direction, you try to get out of the Abyss to reach the next level, called The Auditorium. There will be moving blocks, fire fountains, and other obstacles to test your skills. And you will need to interact with some objects to read instructions, open new paths, or move blocks. Throughout the game, you will find letters. These letters tell how the game was created and how it relates to the Doorways Saga.
Some Feedback
The game Doorways – Old Prototype is not very difficult or complex, but since it is a free game, this is not something to complain about. It requires some basic skills for puzzle solving and some skills regarding the timing of your jumps. You will very likely fall down the abyss many times before you make it through the entire level. But without failing, it wouldn’t be fun, right? The graphics are decent, the background music fits the environment, and the gameplay is smooth.
