Space Invaders is a free Flash game. We have already posted some retro games, e.g., Pong, Arkanoid, and Pacman. However, if you are more into space shooter games, this retro game may suit your liking. It is a fixed shooter game in which you, the player, control a laser gun. You can move the laser gun to the left and the right, and the goal is to destroy the descending aliens. Bunkers partially protect the laser gun, but shots will gradually eliminate them from the aliens or you if you accidentally shoot your laser gun at it.
Over time the game becomes more and more difficult. The aliens will move faster, and another will appear once you destroy one wave of aliens. The game ends when you lose all your lives or the aliens reach the ground. You can gain extra points by destroying the motherships that cross the top of the screen occasionally. Worried because Flash is gone?
It’s true. The support for Flash games or applications has stopped. But there are solutions to this problem. Some websites still run Flash content through emulators. Should the link provided below not work anymore, you will always find a vast Flash content database, including Space Invaders, in the Internet Archive. And if you got your hands on the Flash (.swf) file (see link below), then we recommend you go to this webpage, where you will find a desktop player for all Flash files.
Why is Flash not supported anymore?
The reason is that Flash files provide too many security holes and have been continuously used by hackers to smuggle malware on computers. Adobe had to provide updates very frequently to close those security holes. But in the end, it was just too much. Therefore, it is good that Flash is now “gone.”
Please be aware that there is always a risk when you download software. Install a good virus scanner and keep it up to date.
